1. Renting for 5 or 6 days? Check the 7-day price
Our discount goes up from 20% to 30% at seven days, so the seventh day costs only a few euros more: a Ford Focus is €240 for six days and €245 for seven. Booking early doesn't change our price, but it does help you get the car you want, especially in the school holidays and in July and August.
2. For 7+ day periods, avoid the daily rate
The maths is simple: 7 days at the standard daily rate cost more than 7 days at a weekly rate. At 30 days the difference becomes significant.
If you need a car for 9-10 days, ask us whether the weekly package plus 2-3 extra days is worth it. Very often it is cheaper than the daily rate for the whole period.
3. Check what is included, not just the displayed rate
Many cheap aggregator offers hide:
- A large excess on the accident & theft cover (€1,500–2,000): the first thing you pay for scratches
- A €500-€1500 card deposit blocked for the whole period
- Airport transfer fee billed separately
- Daily mileage limit
At driveXplore the accident & theft cover is included with no large excess, the deposit is €50 on most cars (€100–200 on the Mercedes C-Class, Mercedes V-Class, BMW 520d and BMW 540i), mileage is unlimited, and the Otopeni transfer is written into the contract at €20 each way, so it doesn't turn up as a surprise at the end.
4. Use the additional driver at no extra cost
If you are driving a long route (the seaside, Transfăgărășan, Maramureș), share the wheel. With us, the additional driver is free; elsewhere the fee starts at 5-€10 per day.
5. Otopeni Airport handover is not always more expensive
There is an impression that airport pickup adds 30-€50. With us it is €20 each way, fixed. If the alternative is a taxi from Otopeni Airport to a car rental office (35-50 RON), plus the trip back after dropoff, the airport transfer comes out ahead.
