Rental cars for families

A family holiday starts well when the car is not too small. Here is how to choose properly, based on real space rather than brochure figures.

Calculate real space, not brochure space

Car makers exaggerate. A car listed with "5 seats and a 510-litre boot" may not fit two large suitcases, a pushchair and a bag of toys. A few honest reference points:

  • Compact saloon (Skoda Octavia, VW Jetta): 4 adults + 2 cabin suitcases + 1 large suitcase. Fine for a weekend, tight for a week-long holiday.
  • Medium SUV (Hyundai Tucson, VW Tiguan): 4 adults + 3 medium suitcases + pushchair. The comfortable threshold for a family with one child.
  • MPV or large SUV (Skoda Kodiaq, Ford Galaxy): 5-7 real seats plus real luggage space for 5 people.

Child seat

We have child seats on request for children aged 0 to 12. Specify the group when booking (0-13 kg, 9-18 kg, 15-36 kg) and it is prepared at pickup. Fee: 5€ per day.

Important: by law, a child under 1.35 m and under 12 must use a suitable child restraint. Check this even if you bring your own seat.

Comfort on long drives

For a trip to the coast or the mountains with small children, what you do not see in the brochure also matters:

  • Automatic transmission removes stress from Bucharest traffic and weekend DN1
  • Separate-zone climate control: not luxury, the difference between a sleeping child and a crying child
  • Tinted rear windows or sunshades (we add them if you ask)

Handover for families

If you land at Otopeni Airport with a small child, direct terminal handover is the least tiring option: 20€ each way, with the car prepared and the child seat fitted before you arrive.

For Bucharest residents, we can arrange handover at your office or home (within Bucharest, with small transfer fees).
